10 Fabulous Cities In Europe For A Girls’ Getaway

Hampstead

There is nothing I love more than a fabulous girls’ getaway, and some of the best ones are had while exploring cities in Europe. Amid the magnificent architecture of Vienna, the sweet sangria of Barcelona or the picturesque islands of the Venetian lagoon, you can find ways to reconnect and form new, everlasting memories that allow for love and friendship to flourish.

Romanticising our holidays is something we all love to do and I’m a total sucker for doing this with the people in your life that can go from hiking in lush environments to sailing along crystal clear water or from wandering historical sites to drinking wine at sunset. It’s the essence of girlhood!

So, here is a list of some of the best cities in Europe to visit if you are looking for adventure just as much as you wish to create simple and silly moments of happiness.

Cities In Europe For A Girls’ Getaway

Amsterdam, the Netherlands

The young, lively city of Amsterdam, with its elaborate canal system lined with narrow houses, is just right for the girl groups that love cycling scenic routes, hopping around famous museums, and taking in a healthy dose of stroopwafels. Wander around in clogs as you take in the sights – and don’t forget that if there is one perfect time to visit the Netherlands, it’s for the country’s exquisite tulip season

PS. If you are travelling from London, Amsterdam is one the best destinations to explore on the Eurostar.

Berlin, Germany

Whether you head over for the summer festivals or the Christmas markets, Berlin has you and your girls covered when it comes to vibrant, seasonal activities and experiences alongside historic attractions. The bustling atmosphere, incredible food and overflowing alcohol means you’re bound to have a great time, and there is plenty to admire across its haunting past and more fun-loving modern nature. Discover the colour of the East Side Gallery, the magnificence of the Charlotenberg Palace and the quirky neighbourhood of Friedrichshain, where old factories have transformed into the wildest clubs in town for a remarkable blend of culture.

Budapest, Hungary

If you are hoping to book a trip to one of the cheaper cities in Europe, then look no further than the beautiful city of Budapest. Home to gorgeous architecture like the Fisherman’s Bastion and world-famous thermal spas, its hard not to love about this Hungarian capital and relaxed vibe.

Besides its affordability and lovely tourist attractions, Budapest is also incredibly safe and often lists as one the best places for solo travelling – so be assured that you and your girlfriends will feel right at home.

Copenhagen, Denmark

Even more so than Budapest, Copenhagen is an absolute haven when it comes to travelling to the safest destinations in Europe. I’ve never felt so comfortable in foreign environments than when in Denmark. Take your group to the colourful Nyhavn Harbour and fairy-tale like Rosenborg Castle, swim in the canals and explore the fantastic food markets for the perfect girls’ getaway. It’s pretty obvious why Copenhagen is one of the happiest cities in the world.

Faro and the Algarve, Portugal

One of the most difficult parts of planning a group holiday is figuring out when everyone is free. This is where the beauty of Portugal’s southern coast comes in – it’s always in season, even in the off-season. With a blend of coastal experiences, hiking possibilities and old town charms, Faro and the entire Algarve region satisfies every type of traveller. The summer brings you the iconic party scene of Albufeira, while the winter offers water sports and historic attractions without the crowds  – it’s a win-win all year round.

London, England

You name it, London has it. World-class restaurants known for their afternoon tea experiences, famous shopping streets, lush parks, free galleries, and historic landmarks are all at your doorstep in this famous English city. From Little Venice and Chinatown to Portobello Market and Soho, I can guarantee that you will be running all over the culturally diverse destination, finding connections in unexpected places, and never running out of things to do.

London’s powerful hold on girl groups is understandable, so don’t be shy, book your journey to immerse in a royal setting, and who knows – you might find yourself your very own London Boy.

Paris, France

The city of love is for more than proposals and honeymooners. It is a place for picnics by the Eiffel Tower, wandering down the Champs-Élysées, cruising the seine with a bottle of wine and taking Instagram-worthy pictures in cute cafes. Paris is the heart and soul of city breaks and brings you everything a girl gang needs to have a great holiday in Europe.

PS. If you are travelling from London, Paris is one the best destinations to explore on the Eurostar.

Rome, Italy

Vacations in Europe are never complete without visiting one of the continent’s most popular locations. Rome is a paradise of history, beauty and delicious cuisine, and exudes a magic that will have you and your girlfriends feeling like you are on a luxurious escape and movie-like environment. Between the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps, pizza slices and wine-loving neighbourhoods, the capital is an idyllic Italian vacation spot for relaxing and connecting with friends.

Rhodes, Greece

There are thousands of islands off Greece’s coastline, but Rhodes is where you want to be when searching for a destination where comfort doesn’t mean compromising on natural beauty, and energetic does not equal crowded.

Perched in the Mediterranean Sea, Rhodes is one of the best cities in Europe for it has every ingredient for a perfect girls trip: beaches, nightlife, vineyards, and old-town charisma. Spend your time exploring cobblestone streets, swimming in secluded coves, and dancing the night away at lively beachfront restaurants – what’s not to love?

Vienna, Austria

Eastern Europe remains relatively underrated for girls trips, and despite its overall popularity, Vienna falls into this category. Perhaps it’s the lack of beaches, but the stunning landlocked country of Austria is an absolute gem, and Vienna should draw you in through its elegant palaces, lavish opera shows, butterfly houses and overall classy setting. This is where you want to be if you want to walk around at midnight without a care in the world and be constantly surrounded by beautiful buildings.
