Marvellous Wineries In Margaret River, Western Australia

Margaret River stands as a testament to the synergy between nature and winemaking. Located only 3 hours from Perth, this isolated and young vinous paradise has, over the past few decades, transformed into Australia’s premier wine destination. In fact, although the region is only responsible for 3 per cent of the country’s total grape production, it produces over 25 per cent of Australia’s finest wine across 200+ wineries!

It may initially surprise you to learn of the marvellous wineries in Margaret River, but upon a closer look, it is clear why wine connoisseurs and enthusiasts love this place so much. Due to Margaret River’s location in the beautiful southwest corner of Australia, it boasts a maritime climate (mild, wet winters and warm, dry summers), ancient soil and is free of pests and diseases that plague other wine regions, all of which ensure that the vines remain healthy and constantly provided with vital minerals that result in the most delicious wine.

Cabernet sauvignon and chardonnay are the local legends, but plenty of other varieties deserve your attention. These include Syrah, malbec, and sauvignon blanc – the latter being my personal favourite.

So, whether you’re a seasoned winery visitor or looking for a fun, new experience, Margaret River is the perfect place to indulge in a sensory journey through some of Australia’s finest wines.

Although Hamelin Bay does not consist of the very best of Australia’s beaches, the crystal-clear waters are home to friendly stingrays that often swim close to the shore, providing a unique opportunity for visitors to interact with these fascinating creatures in their natural habitat.

Do keep in mind that if you want to meet the stingrays, you must get to Hamelin Bay early in the morning before they disappear into the deep blue.

Tucked away along the rugged coastline, Indijup features rock formations and warm water that create soothing spa-like pools. It’s the perfect spot to unwind, relax, and enjoy the therapeutic benefits of nature. Make sure to time your visit with the tides for the best experience, and perhaps avoid visiting in the peak of summer to miss the crowds.
